Introduction
At DoktorSnake.com, we are committed to keeping the trust and confidence of our visitors to the website. We especially want you to know that DoktorSnake.com is NOT in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists with other companies and firms for marketing purposes. We aren’t into that sort of thing. Doktor Snake is primarily an author and that’s what he’s always been.
To be certain you feel 100% confident in what we are saying, we’ve laid down loads of detailed information below in this privacy policy detailing when and why we collect your personal information when you use this website – how we use it, the very limited conditions under which we might disclose it to others, and how we keep it secure.
And by providing us with any data, you warrant to us that you are over 13 years of age.
DoktorSnake.com is the data controller and we are responsible for your personal data. We keep it safe and secure.

WordPress Stats
When somebody visits DoktorSnake.com we use WordPress (via JetPack) to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We do this to find out stuff like how many visitors we get to the site and to specific content, like blog posts. That way, we know what material is most popular and get a better idea of what people want to read on the site. This information doesn’t record people’s identities or personal information. Neither DoktorSnake.com, nor WordPress, make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting the website.
Contact Form
When you send an email to Doktor Snake, you do it via the contact form on the website. This asks you for your name and email address. Neither are used for any other purpose except replying to your message or messages to Doktor Snake. Our email system is powered by Google’s Gsuite, and this is where your contact information is stored – that is, on Google’s cloud servers. Email is accessed from the Google cloud by Doktor Snake via his Linux-powered laptop, or by his assistant’s Linux laptop. But no messages are actually downloaded. Using the IMAP protocol, the laptops access Google’s cloud servers to view and reply to messages. Form processing is done by FormToMail, which sends your messages to our email system with Google’s Gsuite. Data is stored on FormToEmail servers for one month, then is deleted.
Mailing List
As part of the registration process for Doktor Snake’s newsletter and latest blog post alerts, we ask for your email address. This is so we can send you the newsletter and blog post alerts (we couldn’t if we didn’t have your email). Both the newsletter and blog alerts are a short compilation of the latest blog posts that have been published on DoktorSnake.com. Very occasionally, the newsletter will be a one-off alert to anything new on the site – like new products. We most definitely DO NOT rent or trade email lists with other organizations and businesses. And it goes without saying that we hate spam.
We use third-party provider Aweber to send out newsletter. And the latest blog post alerts are powered by WordPress and it’s JetPack service. Aweber does gather statistics around opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help Doktor Snake improve his email newsletter. (For Aweber’s privacy policy, go here). But the WordPress blog alert service doesn’t do any of that. It just fires out an email alert to Doktor Snake’s latest blog posts.
Aweber’s servers are located in the US, but they are part of the EU-US Privacy Shield, so all safeguards are in place.
You can unsubscribe from both the newsletter and WordPress blog alerts 24/7 by clicking the unsubscribe link at the end of our email broadcasts – or just reply and Doktor Snake or one of his team will remove you from the list.
Buying Stuff
DoktorSnake.com uses online shopping cart provider e-junkie, which makes it easy for you to click and purchase. This then routes to trusted online payments’ provider PayPal. Both collect your email address and street address – both necessary to actually send you the stuff you’ve bought, and to confirm your PayPal account, etc. Here’s PayPal’s privacy policy.
The information collected is only used to deliver what you’ve ordered to you, and if need be, to contact you regarding any ins and outs about your purchase. You are never contacted for any other reason. And none of the data is ever shared with anybody else, be it a company or business.
When it comes to sending purchases out to you, we simply access PayPal’s cloud servers to print your address on packaging. We don’t hold any of your street address and email address data locally on our machines. We are very cloud-based.
Sensitive Data
For things like readings and spellworkings, we need to collect the following sensitive data about you in order to deliver the services / products you order. For readings and spellworkings we will ask for your name, date and place of birth, current location, occupation, relationship status, and for details about your situation that you believe we should know to deliver our product and service.
We require your explicit consent for processing sensitive data. So when you submit your details we will present you with a form field to confirm your consent to this processing.
We will only use your personal data for the purpose it was collected for, or a reasonably compatible purpose if necessary. If you don’t wish to provide us with the requested data, we may have to cancel a product or service you have ordered, but if we do, we will notify you at the time.
We don’t do any automated decision making or any type of automated profiling.
Data Security
We’ve put in place security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, altered, disclosed, or accessed without authorization. We also allow access to your personal data only to those employees or contractors who need to know such data – for example for customer service (Doktor Snake has one assistant) and to readings done by Pip de Belfry, who does both dream readings and crystal ball readings.
We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach if we are legally required to.
Data Retention
We’ll only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
When deciding what the correct time is to keep the data for we look at its amount, nature and sensitivity, potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, the processing purposes, if these can be achieved by other means and legal requirements.
For tax purposes the law requires us to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they stop being customers.
In some circumstances we may anonymize your personal data for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.
Your information
You can view, amend, or delete any personal information that we hold. Just email your request using the website contact form here. Either Doktor Snake or one of his small team will sort it out for you.
This privacy policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure it is up to date.
